NOTICE TO CITIZENS OF BIRD ISLAND
REGARDING FERAL CAT PROBLEM
Concerns have been brought to the Bird Island City Council regarding the apparent increase in the feral cat population in town. The City's current Ordinance 168 allows impounding officers to humanely put cats to sleep if unclaimed after five days. According to an internet article entitled "Killing Cats No Solution to Feral Cat Problems," which can be found at http://www.animalarkshelter.org killing a cat only opens up a space for another on to take it's place. Do not feed homeless or wild cats. This will only add to the increase in the feral cat population. The Council is considering adoption of an ordinance that will penalize people from doing so. We are asking that all citizens be responsible pet owners and keep your cats indoors or have them spayed or neutered!
